An expert who has read over 500 books has given her 10 tips to moving forward, being happier and understanding your emotions. Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour in humans and other animals, and Psychologists help people with their mental, emotional, and behavioural issues through therapy.
Millie Hardie, a registered psychologist with the Psychologist Board of Australia and AHPRA, often shares tips on her TikTok page under the handle @pocket.psychologist to help others have better access to her practices. She often shares clips of things it took her 10 years to learn in a quick and understandable way, which have helped thousands of people across the world.
Millie shared a video explaining how she had read over 500 psychology books, and wanted to share her top 10 tips on practices she knows work.

She said: "I'm a psychologist and I've read over 500 books psychology books. Give me 60 seconds and I will tell you what actually works."
Tip one from the professional said it was important to "notice your thoughts" but said that you do not actually have to believe them.
The second tip helps your emotions lose the power they have. Millie said: "Number two, name your emotions, they loose power when they're seen."
She continued: "Number three, act on your values and not your mood. Number four, kindness to yourself changes your biology.
"Number five, boundaries teach people how to treat you. Number six, you don't need more motivation, action creates it."
Tip number seven from the expert explained how grounding your body calms your mind. In one of her more recent videos, Millie shared some quirky Psychology hacks that help reduce anxiety and panic. these include having a sour sweet or holding an ice cube.
Millie continued: "Number eight, my favourite, the story you tell yourself is your reality. Number nine, understanding your brain is your biggest superpower and it is the start to healing.
"Number ten, acceptance isn't giving up it's moving forward. After 500 books that's the truth, simple, human, repeatable, and it works."
